Overview
In honour of PRIDE month, the Adform UK office organised an uplifting and engaging event to promote awareness and celebration. The event brought together employees for a spirited PRIDE Trivia quiz and an exciting game of BINGO. During the quiz, participants delved into the rich history of PRIDE, its global celebrations, and the profound significance of the PRIDE flag and its vibrant colours. It was not just a test of knowledge but also an opportunity for ongoing education about the origins and significance of PRIDE. The BINGO game featured a colourful array of words and images symbolising the diverse elements of PRIDE, contributing to collective awareness and deepened understanding of the LGBTQ+ community.
What did you set out to achieve?
The main objective of the occasion was to foster an atmosphere that was warm and accepting for everyone. Our aim was to enlighten our team members on the significance of PRIDE, while also infusing a sense of enjoyment and enthusiasm into the discussion, as there are numerous aspects to take pride in! The event also created an opportunity for inquisitiveness, allowing employees to pose questions to enhance their understanding and partake in dialogues that might not typically occur in the workplace.
What was the first step you took to get it off the ground?
Our first step in celebrating PRIDE month was to ensure that everyone in the office was aware of the significance of the month. We incorporated PRIDE month into our office calendar and sent out reminders to all employees. We also scheduled our end-of-month PRIDE event in everyone's diary to ensure maximum participation.
Who are the internal business partners you brought on board? Are there any external stakeholders you spoke to for advice?
The social team took charge of organising the event, and they did an amazing job. They prepared engaging trivia questions, curated a fun BINGO game, and even arranged for delicious PRIDE-themed cupcakes to add to the festivities.
What budget/resource did you need?
One of the best parts is that the event didn't require a significant budget. The social team members were resourceful and managed to source the trivia questions and BINGO cards without incurring extra costs.
How do you keep it going?
Beyond just being a fun event, it served as a platform to nurture a safe and inclusive space for all employees. It allowed meaningful conversations around diversity and inclusion to continue even after the PRIDE celebrations had come to an end.
What positive impact has this initiative or campaign had?
The PRIDE event had a significant and positive impact on the team. It effectively increased their understanding of important LGBTQ+ topics, motivated them to participate in PRIDE events beyond the workplace, and encouraged them to have open conversations about diversity and inclusion.
What did you learn that could help others?
Although participation is never mandatory, it's truly heartening to witness the team's eagerness to engage and enrich their comprehension and consciousness of crucial DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) subjects. This has sparked motivation within the social team to arrange additional educational gatherings, which will be enjoyable and captivating, aimed at fostering collective learning for the entire team.
How will you make the benefit of this initiative or campaign endure?
The Adform team is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within our organisation. We will actively engage in conversations related to DEI, prioritise attending DEI events hosted by other industry members, and proactively seek opportunities to further our education on key areas of interest related to DEI.
